Getting here

Bolara 60 is tucked away in the peaceful countryside of northwest Croatia, near the Slovenian border and less than an hour’s drive from Italy. Though we’re off the beaten path, we’re easy to find—just search for Bolara 60 on Google Maps. We have plenty of space for parking, whether you’re arriving by car or bicycle.

We love the spirit of adventure shown by those travelling by train, bike, bus and boat – and we’re easily accessible from the marvellous Parenzana bike trail. However, public transport can be scarce away from the main towns in Istria, with none going to/from our village. The rural, hide-away location of Bolara 60 means travel by car makes life a lot easier and really allows you to make the most of this beautiful part of Croatia. Charging is available for electric cars.

Directions

We are less than three hours’ drive from six airports and it’s worth comparing the options to see which has the dates and prices which work for you:

  • * Pula (Croatia) – 1 hour
  • * Trieste (Italy) – 1½ hours
  • * Rijeka (Croatia) – 1½ hours
  • * Ljubljana (Slovenia) – 1¾ hours
  • * Venice (Italy) – 2½ hours
  • * Zagreb (Croatia) – 3 hours

If you are combining a stay with us with a longer holiday in the area (see some popular route suggestions below), you may wish to travel to or from Venice, Zagreb, Split, Zadar or Dubrovnik.

If you’re on a cycling holiday, we’re easily accessible from the Parenzana bike trail from Koper to Poreč, with our nearest town, Grožnjan, being a handy one-day’s ride from Koper for fast mountain-bikers, or perhaps two short days for more sedate travellers.

Our location

Our house is located in the village of Bolara, which sits in a small valley under the hilltop town of Grožnjan, both of which can be found on Google Maps. We send further directions to all our guests before their arrival date.
